I have a 30w CFL..the kelvin temperature is 6000k...is that too high?

No. Its good for VEG. the temperature in K refers to what level of light spectrum is being given off by the actual light. 6000K is a BLUE / WHITE spectrum of light... simulating Daylight and natural sunlight. 3000K would be considered "warm", and be giving off a more RED / YELLOW light... you can do a google image search for like... color spectrum Kelvin and see if you can find a chart or something to give you actual specific answers to numbers in K and their specific color spectrums. The higher in K = Blueish / White. The lower in K = Yellow / redish.
