Are you saying that your mother is actually in there with you and the dentist watching while you have the procedure? Just tell her that you'd rather not have her there.
I don't think that the dentist will say anything. Getting your teeth cleaned twice a year is recommended, and will get rid of the resins and tar.

Dude you aint a child anymore. Its upto you if you want to smoke. Yes your mum might not be happy about it but theres nothing she can do about it, its your choice...
Just tell your mum to wait out side while your getting your teeth out. The dentist will probley ask you if you smoke anyway..
Good luck with getting your wisdom teeth out cause it sore as fuck..

tell mom gtfo so you can enjoy all the anestesia!
i had jaw surgery and it sucks until the meds kick in. i was afraid of getting put to sleep and never waking up (weird phobia) so i stayed conscious for the entire thing and it was really, really surreal and cool. i felt nothing, saw lots of blood and was haaiiiiiigh as hell.

I remember that my bio teacher said if you smoke a lot and get your braces removed, there may be stains. Like your braces act as a stencil. I wouldn't worry about it though, my friends have gone to the dentist and they didn't say anything to them. Also, just tell your mom to go wait outside because your a man now. Maybe while waiting she'll stumble upon a Cannabis magazine lol

If you are old enough to be here, then you are old enough to buy cancer sticks. El fin de story.
Just do not smoke in mom's house or around mom and she will get over it bro...

Arrange another day to meet your mom, or you could buy some toothpaste that get rid of yellow teeth... Cant remember the name of it.. Next time your in a chemist have a look or ask the person in the place if they have any whitning toothpast that help clear smokers teeth (yellow teeth)..
So when do you go to get your teeth out?

If there actually is any controversy, just try to blame it on coffee or tea, as they can stain your teeth.
Just an alternative suggestion. Good luck:thumbsup:

I don't know exactly how much yellowing marijuana can cause or staining but brushing isn't going to remove stains. Good brushing and dental hygiene may prevent staining but once they are stained, brushing the surface isn't going to remove the stains. Your teeth are somewhat porous and will absorb many things that can cause staining. From what I've seen whitening toothpastes aren't very effective and home whitening kits are not as effective as advertised. Yes some of them do work a little (I've always seen good things about Crest products and Go Smile) but it doesn't sound like you have that much time.
Just roll with it and bullshit if you have to.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out last february
be prepared for the swollen face, and for eating nothing but pudding and ramen for a week or two
the meds are pretty good though, I still have a few left and I pop one from time to time, beware of dry hole

Yep that is the best advice someone can give you. Let me just even if the doctor asks you smoke your gonna say no and then its all good. He won't say you have stained teeth you been smoking? atleast i don't think.

You can use those strips with bleach and shit to whiten your teeth, and they will work pretty damn well, but at the same time they will take the enamel off your teeth, and once that protective layering is gone, it's gone for good (until they figure out a way to replace enamel). That said, all you people hating on this dude are just plain jerks. The kid's only 19 and has a strong relationship with his mom, so what? Don't hate him because your relationship with your mom sucked. If my mom paid for my dental work still, she could sit on my lap while they were doing the procedure for all I care. Shit ain't cheap when you're uninsured. Flamin' a kid online for having a good relationship with his ma.....guess the term "lazy, slacker stoner" fits when you don't have anything else to do. Go read a book.

i agree with u man im 18 and realy close to m family.
they all try to take care of my like im still a baby. i guess its kus im the youngest.
even tho im 18 and i smoke i wouldnt do it infront of my mom thats just kinda wrong u noe. kus i know inside she doesnt want me doing it so why woud i disrespect and hurt her like that?
maybe u guys dont acceppt it but some of ur parents simply dont give a fuck about u and thats sad.
my friends allways talk smack about my familly not letting me do shit and not being able to stay out all night but dats bcs they care and i can understand that. their parents are straigh loosers and dont give a shit about them but they dont see it that way.
getting back to ur teeth bro haha dont be paranoid they wont ask and if hey do just say no i guess i dont brush too often or something.
there can be many reasons why ur teeth are getting stained.

Trying not to bump a week old thread but I couldn't help myself.
What's with all you guys hating on this kid about going to get his wisdom teeth out with his mom?
Granted it's stupid that she cares so much whether he smokes or not but she is just being an overprotective parent (regardless of his age).
When I got mine out my mother was there as well. It pretty much went without saying simply because it's pretty hard to drive when you're fucked up on anesthetics. Give him a break.
. . . Just roll with it and bullshit if you have to.

yeah, agreed, thats just some good advice for life in general. i remember when i was like 16 i went to doc with my dad, and the doc starts checking my lungs and says, "do you smoke?". i just kinda gave him a f'u look and everything was cool. :stoned:
^^^ not that you should give your dentist a hard time, i mean just try to look insulted as you bs, it works for me. :D

kay I don't know if this is too late to post but I thought I should weigh in with a semi-professional opinion.
1. If you have smoked/used cannabis in the 48 hours preceding your appointment, say "yes" when asked; if not, you may say "no" without greatly influencing your care. However, a caveat: if you use tobacco at *all*, please tell your dentist, and if you are a heavy cannabis smoker, it would be better for your dentist to know this. Light to moderate users shouldn't worry about it.
2. I have stated on this forum previously that cannabis can decrease the efficacy of dental anesthetics - so it is helpful if your dentist knows this, but not vital, unless you have smoked recently. DO NOT go to the dentist high - you might not get numb and that will really suck for both you and your dentist.
3. Weed does not stain teeth any more than cigarettes. So it depends on how heavily you smoke and what other habits you have - coffee and red wine probably stain more than weed. Just blame coffee if you feel like you need to say something about staining to parents/dentists/whoever and don't want to admit to illegal use.
4. I don't blame anyone for not wanting parents to know. It is easy to say "You are old enough to decide for yourself" when they haven't been in your shoes. I understand and I think it's okay to hide it. Privacy is important.
5. It's always a good idea to have someone else drive you home from surgery!! And to have an emergency contact with you while you are in a complex medical or dental procedure.
EDIT: I put in two "2."s last time I made this list... so maybe nobody should trust my semi-professional opinion after all :)

Ugh! Wisdom teeth suck! I just got mine out a month ago. All four. Now I have them in a little pink holder my dentist gave me.
They knocked me out completely with an IV. A little pain.
Then my teeth healed but I had a puffy cheek on one side. I went to the doctor and she said it was a blood pouch. Gross, right? Yeah haha ick. It went away in a week.
Here's my link :)

man, even if the dentist is able to tell if you have been smoking (which I doubt unless you have horribly yellow teeth from cigs and mary-j), he wont say anything. He has no right to be like "Hey! Your son has been smoking marijuana! I can see it!". No way man, you are all good.
